Most meme coins invent their lore. Ours was written by NASA — and an 8-year-old with a crayon.
NASA asked the world's kids to design the Artemis II mascot. Over 2,600 entries from 50+ countries poured in — octopuses, moon rabbits, tiny explorers. The winner: a round, smiling little moon drawn by Lucas Ye, an 8-year-old from Mountain View, California, announced by mission commander Reid Wiseman himself.
The cap is Earth, honoring the legendary Earthrise photo from Apollo 8. The visor carries rockets of past and future Moon missions. The stars form the constellation Orion — the name of the Artemis II spacecraft. And on its back hides a tiny footprint, for Apollo.
Rise flew as the official zero-gravity indicator— the plush that floats free the moment the crew hits weightlessness. NASA calls it “a safe and simple visual cue for the crew.” It rode with astronauts Wiseman, Glover, Koch and Hansen on their ~10-day flight around the Moon.
Tucked inside Rise: an SD card carrying 5,647,889 namesfrom NASA's “Send Your Name with Artemis” campaign. It follows a proud lineage of space plushies — Snoopy on Artemis I, Baby Yoda, Shaun the Sheep. Now the little moon floats on, in zero gravity on BSC. 🌙
